Vision

We envision a world in which all incarcerated people have access to high quality academic programs. The Petey Greene Program will inspire our alumni to become advocates, and to take on leadership roles that will reimagine the criminal legal system.

Since 2008, PGP volunteers have supported thousands of incarcerated students in pursuit of their academic goals.

Letter from a PGP tutor

My student has been struggling with math. During all of this semester and last semester, we have been preparing for him to take the test a third time. Even though he passed all of the other subjects on his first try, he failed math twice, and I could totally relate, because math was never my forte either!

He took the exam last week, but upon sitting down to our workspace yesterday, there were still math worksheets on the table.

He wanted to continue practicing mathematics, even though he felt confident in his performance last week.

I personally, am terrible at math, and so I asked "Whyyy? Why don't we just do any one of these other wonderful subjects??" I love Language Arts, you know!"

He told me that he wanted to understand it better. That if he ever had children, he wanted to be able to help them with their homework. He wanted to excel so that he could provide a resource for others; a resource that he never had.

The Petey Greene Program not only changes the lives of the students themselves, but also the lives of the people to whom they are connected.

Seasons change and people grow.

The dormant seed germinates and bears fruit for future generations.
